Netflix’s Noah Centineo spy thriller series the recruit will return for a second season on Netflix in 2024. Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming second season, including some exclusive information on when the new season will begin filming.
Starring Noah Centineo, the new series sees him play the role of Owen Hendricks, a lawyer who becomes embroiled in a conspiracy plot involving the CIA.
All eight episodes landed on Netflix on December 16, 2022.
The show has a terrific pedigree, with Alexi Hawley serving as the show’s creator. Hawley is best known for creating hits for network television, including Castle, The noob, The next, and test body.
Official renewal status: Renovated
Ahead of the official renewal, we’ve heard positive rumors from production sources in Canada that they plan to move forward with a Season 2 a month after launch; Netflix officially confirmed season 2 on January 26, 2023.

In a statement about the renewal, Alexi Hawley said:
“I am delighted to once again dive into the fun, funny and action-packed world of The Recruit. Seeing how invested our audience became in the show’s adventurous take on the world of spies and Noah’s role as Owen has been incredibly rewarding, and I can’t wait to turn it all into «11» in season two.»
Centineo will return as executive producer and will reprise his role as Owen Hendricks.
Hawley will return as Showrunner with Hypnotic’s Doug Liman, Gene Klein and David Bartis; Adam Ciralsky (P3 Media) and Charlie Ebersol also return as executive producers.
Prior to the revamp, Alexi Crawley hinted that talks had taken place or a plan for the future had been laid out.

“I know things about where I would like to take it and where I would like to go with it. I mean, obviously, you expect success, but as you can see with that ending, I didn’t plan for failure because I feel like in this day and age you just have to be bold, you have to be dramatic, at the expense. from everything else. And you can’t worry about Season 2, Season 3, or beyond. You have to say, «What is the best version of this story right now?» And trust that people will come to it. And then you’ll have another chance.»

Now, a month later, we have a pretty clear picture of how well the recruit is acting on Netflix.
Let’s first look at the hourly data published by Netflix’s Top 10 site so far.
So far, the show has been featured in the five weeks since its launch. In total, the show has amassed 228.26 million hours watched worldwide.

Weeks 2 and 3 will be critical, so despite an 83% increase, we’ll keep an eye on week 3.
As we’ve discussed before, one possible glitch with the program is that in week 3, it dropped 55%. We have observed that programs with a drop of more than 50% sometimes have difficulty renewing.
So, in terms of CVE hours (Full View Equivalent: Netflix raw hours figure divided by program run time), how does it stack up against the competition?
Based on our top 10 reports for 2022 (with some estimates in play), we can see the recruit firmly at the cutoff point for cancellations. In the renewal table below only Month it had fewer hours and has been publicly renewed.
How well did the open release do in terms of CVE? The show slightly exceeded The Lawyer Lincoln initially but was right behind The Sandman and Vikings: Valhalla.
The next is Nielsen data tracking minutes watched in the United States, although they publish their data a month after the fact.
Here’s how the viewing hours break down so far:

FlixPatrol data, which analyzes Netflix’s Top 10 Raw every day, suggests the show peaked on its first fourth and fifth day in the top 10 globally, but has held up very well since the festive period. The show remained in numerous top 10s around the world for up to a month after its release.
Data shows that the program works best in the United States, South Africa, Eastern Europe, the Nordic countries, Canada, and Australia.
According televisionstats.com, the show had a huge rise after its addition to Netflix, and it came out of nowhere after its release. So far, the show has peaked as the fourth biggest show in the world, according to their data.
They pull data from external sources (also known as demand sources) like Twitter, Wikipedia, Google, and Reddit.
The single most popular program that the recruit during the show’s first week on Netflix was the white lotus in hbo, Wednesday on netflix, 1923 on Paramount+, and yellow stone at Paramount Networks.
Data for January 19 suggests the show peaked at #4, but has since fallen below the top 100 shows.
As part of the renewal, Netflix confirmed that the series would return sometime in 2024, though it did not provide any further details.
What’s on Netflix can exclusively reveal that the show will return to filming in Vancouver, BC, in June 2023. More details to come, but if it follows the season 1 schedule, that would put the end of production sometime in the future. November.
Let’s quickly recap the events of Season 1.
In episode 8, titled WTFIOH (Who the Hell Is Owen Hendricks?), the mission to get Max to Russia continues and just when things seem to be coming to an end, complications arise. He also saw the clash of Owen’s personal and professional life.
Season 1 concludes with a big twist; Karolina shoots Max, but is she dead herself? That will undoubtedly be the pivotal question answered in Season 2.
The finale then sees Owen contacting Hannah to meet abroad, which concludes the series.
According to Netflix, the second season will pick up last season’s cliffhanger finale that found Owen and Max captured with their lives on the line.
He RadioTimes speculates that we will see the return of Noah Centineo in a second season, as well as Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn and Fivel Stewart. They also predict the same as us in the sense that «Owen Hendricks would launch into another high-stakes mission, although this time he might be a little more prepared for the experience.»
