No tickets matched the winning Powerball numbers Monday night, bringing Wednesday’s estimated lottery jackpot to $1 billion.
Monday’s winning numbers were 5, 8, 9, 17 and 41, with the red Powerball being 21, the Powerball site revealed.
Winners of $2 million each in Match 5 plus Power Play bought tickets in Arkansas, Georgia and Texas. $1 million Match 5 tickets were sold in Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, New York, and Pennsylvania.
The next drawing will be Wednesday at 11 pm ET. The cash payment is estimated at $516.8 million.
Monday’s estimate of $900 million ranked as the third largest in gaming history. In second place is a 2016 jackpot of $1.586 billion. The largest jackpot in history was $2.04 billion, which was won last year.
The jackpot increased to $900 million after Saturday night’s drawing failed to find its perfect combination: white balls 2, 9, 43, 55 and 57 and red Powerball 18, according to the website.
The most recent Powerball jackpot winner was a player from Ohio, who netted a $252.6 million win in April.
On Monday, the number of consecutive draws without a match is raised to 38.
Powerball is operated by the Multi-State Lottery Association.
