Oklahoma and Oklahoma State football will no longer be played in the same conference following the conclusion of the college football 2023 season.

The Sooners and the texas longhorns it will depart from the Big 12 conference for the SEC beginning in 2024, ending Oklahoma’s run in the conference dating back to the 1990s.

With the departure of Oklahoma comes the end of the rivalry against the enemy in the state oklahoma stateaccording to Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy.

«When Oklahoma decided to leave the Big 12, they chose to end Bedlam. It’s a one-sided deal. People, we’re trying to decide what happened and what needs to happen for it to continue. They continued to push Oklahoma State to do it.» We had nothing to do with it,» Gundy said. action network. «They left the conference, Bedlam goes with it.»

Gundy was skeptical that the two schools could play each other in non-conference time.

«The SEC will eventually go to a nine game schedule, I’m sure Oklahoma has a Power 5 team that they play every year,» Gundy told Action Network. «We’d have a hard time matching them outside of the conference. We’re scheduled through ’37. We’re not responsible for changing what we do because they left the conference. It’s very simple. They chose to go into the SEC. That’s the choice they made.»

The rivalry, known as «Bedlam,» dates back to 1914.

He 12 grand is going through big changes as both Texas and OU prepare for the final season of the conference.

The conference will play 14 teams next season before returning to 12 teams when the two schools leave the Big 12.

While the Big 12 is losing two of its most prominent members, the conference has added four schools to the mix in 2023.

UCF, Cincinnati, BYU, and Houston were officially added to the conference on July 1.

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will meet on November 4 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
