With Strange things and Enola Holmes To her credit, Millie Bobby Brown has quickly become one of the most in-demand actresses on Netflix. Here’s what we know about the upcoming fantasy movie, Damsel which was initially scheduled for an October 2023 release, but has since changed the year.
Damsel is slated to be an upcoming fantasy film starring Brown that will subvert the «damsel in distress» trope with its heroine not waiting for a knight to save her from a dragon but slaying the dragon herself.

joseph roth and jeff kirschenbaum will produce under his Roth Kirschenbaum Films banner. Executive producing alongside Brown (who falls under their PCMA banner) are Mazeau, Zack Roth and Chris Castaldi. Orchid Productions Ltd is also listed among the production companies of the project.
The project is rumored to have a budget of between 60 and 70 million dollars.

Damsel was confirmed between the 2023 film schedule on January 18, 2023, and its initially scheduled release globally on October 13, 2023.

“It’s a taut, restrained thriller about a princess who thinks she’s marrying a prince only to be thrown down a pit where she’s sacrificed to a dragon.
Brown plays Elodie, who is anxiously awaiting her wedding to Prince Harry and feeling pressure from her father, who needs the money her marriage will bring, to be a good and dutiful wife. After marrying Henry, Elodie realizes that she has been tricked into becoming a sacrificial offering to a cruel dragon that intends to devour her. Elodie must fight her way out of the dragon’s lair and finally save herself by slaying the Dragon.»

Additionally, New York Times bestselling author Evelyn Skye has adapted the screenplay. in a novel which is currently expected to be released on March 14, 2023. The the book announcement came in October 2022.

As of October 2021, only millie bobby brown was the first and, at the time, the only known actress to be among the cast of Damsel.
Brown will play the title role of Princess Elodie. The damsel in distress who believes that she is going to marry Prince Harry, only to discover that she is being sacrificed to a dragon.
Brown is best known for her role as Eleven on Netflix’s Stranger Things, but she also starred in Enola Holmes and has many other projects on Netflix.
Angela Bassett (Black Panther) will play Lady Bayford, described as Princess Elodie’s stepmother.

What is the production status of Damsel?

Millie just finished filming the sequel to Enola Holmes which ended in early January 2022.
Now we can go a step further and state that the movie will start filming in February 2022 in London, England.
Filming began on February 24, 2022, reportedly, and wrapped in July 2022.

Christopher Chanudom, a camera technician, posted a behind the scenes check out Damsel in an Instagram post with the caption:
“A truly wonderful team, I can’t imagine a better place to spend the last two months.
Memories were made and I can’t wait for the next one!”
According to multiple eyewitness reports, production also took place in Portugal, which includes places like:
