George Mason has named Marvin Lewis as its new full-time athletic director effective July 1.

School president Gregory Washington announced the hiring of Lewis on Wednesday after months of searching for a replacement for Bradford Edwards. Edwards left last fall to become director of operations for NFL Alumni.

Since then, Nena Rogers has served in an interim role, overseeing the hiring of former star Tony Skinn as the men’s basketball coach when Kim English left for Providence. She will continue to work at the job until June 30.
