Davante Adams posts message of support for Derek Carr after season finale bench: ‘The reason I’m a Raider’

Davante Adams, veteran NFL wide receiver and longtime friend of Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr took to social media early Thursday morning to express his support for Carr after Carr was benched for the rest of the season.

Jarrett Stidham will replace Carr after the team’s last loss.

the raiders acquired Adams in a trade with the Green Bay Packers in March, reuniting him with former Fresno State teammate Carr. But what was expected to be an explosive season for a team eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last year past turned into a nightmarish situation that eventually landed Carr on the bench.

Adams later posted a picture of the duo on Instagram and doubled down on her support.

The Raiders announced Wednesday that Stidham, a former backup at New England, he would take over as the starting quarterback for Las Vegas’ final two games of the season.

“We are all responsible for where we are,” coach Josh McDaniels said. “And I think it’s more of an opportunity to see a guy we haven’t seen play in a situation like this against a couple of good teams, really good teams. Derek has played a lot of football. There are a lot of evaluations that are going to take place. here once the season is over in terms of how do we progress the most, what makes the most sense for everyone and how do we move forward.”

Sunday’s game against the hot san francisco 49ers it will mark Stidham’s first career start.

The Raiders will have until February 15 to decide whether to release or trade Carr, who has a no-trade clause but could waive it. Or he’d get $33 million for 2023. A serious injury would guarantee that money, plus another $7.5 million for 2024. But his absence for the rest of the season all but eliminates that problem.
